5 Players Punch Ticket to U.S. Open Final Qualifying

Five players carded four-under 68s to advance to U.S. Open Final Qualifying on Tuesday at Kirkbrae Country Club. 

James Hervol, Kevin Blaser, Rich Berberian, Dylan Gallagher and Bryson Richards will all move on to the next stage in about a month for a chance to play in the U.S. Open. 

The cut was four-under.

About the Qualifiers

Hervol plays was awarded medalist honors as he was the first man in the clubhouse. 

He plays professionally on the PGA Tour Americas circuit.

Berberian is a club pro from Massachusetts who just two years ago won the NEPGA Championship at Kirkbrae. 

Blaser, a former RI Amateur Champ, is back after playing being injured for the last two year. 

Just last month, he and Ricky Stimets won the Hyannisport Seagulls Four-Ball. 

Gallagher just finished his junior year at Bryant University where he plays on the golf team. 

Richards is a former URI golf star, turned pro.  

He came into Tuesday off a second place finish at a Minor League Golf Tour event. 

Alternate Spots

The two alternate spots were decided in a five-for-two playoff. 

The five players included Fletcher Babcock, Max Jackson, Bobby Leopold, Josiah Hawala and Jay Sherwood. 

All finished a three-under 69. 

Babcock earned the first alternate spot with a birdie on the first playoff hole (18). 

Leopold earned the second alternate spot with a par on the second playoff hole (17).
