RI’s Raj Mammen Takes Medalist Honors at USwing Jr. World Qualifier
Rhode Island’s Raj Mammen captured medalist honors at the USwing Junior World Qualifier on Saturday at Wintonbury Hills Golf Course in Connecticut.
Mammen fired an even par 70 to win the tournament by two shots.
He will now advance to the USwing Junior World Championship in California in early July.
Mammen’s Round
Mammen opened up the tournament with pars on the first two holes, before making his first birdie of the day on the par-3 third hole to get to one-under.
He would get to two-under on the fifth hole, but gave it right back with a bogey on the sixth hole.

Following a par on seven, Mammen eagled the par-5 eighth hole moving him to three-under for the tournament before a bogey on nine saw him turn at two-under 33.
The back side, was a bit of a rollercoaster.
Mammen bogeyed 11, birdied 13 and then made back-to-back bogeys on 144 and 15.
He made another bogey on 17, before finishing strong with a birdie on 18 to finish at even par.
About USwing World Junior Championship
In 1968, the San Diego Junior Golf Association founded the Junior World Golf Championship to connect young golfers from all parts of the world. Not only was our goal to provide youth with a premier golf experience, but we dreamed that the championship would build greater understanding among people of different cultures and values.
In its inaugural year, the event attracted 475 junior golfers from seven countries and 20 states.
Today, the tournament has grown to 1,250 participants, representing 56 countries and 42 states. The USWING MOJING Junior World Golf Championships is now the largest international event in the world and is unique for its international representation and cultural diversity.
