Kirby, Walsh, Blanchard Advance to U.S. Senior Open Final Qualifying
Ed Kirby, Peter Walsh and Charlie Blanchard all advanced to U.S. Senior Open Final Qualifying on Wednesday at Shennecossett Golf Course in Connecticut.
Blanchard carded an even par 71 to lead the group and make the cut with relative ease.
The Bryant Head Coach finished in a tie for fourth overall.
Kirby fired a one-over 72 to finish in a tie for eighth and advance tot he next stage.
Walsh posted a two-over 73 and had to go to into a playoff to get in.
In the playoff, there were 10 players for five spots, and Walsh managed to advance.
The cut was two-over.
All three players will advance to the Final Qualifier in a few weeks.
Late last month, RI’s Jamie Lukowicz advanced to the Final Qualifier.
