Course Review: Fairlawn Golf Course – April 17, 2025

On Thursday of this week, my wife and I went and played nine holes at Fairlawn Golf Course in Lincoln.

Fairlawn has a short par-3 course that is great for short game practice or for those who are just learning the game.

My wife is in that category, learning how to play and she feels better about going to Fairlawn as opposed to the “bright lights” of Kirkbrae.

So off we went.

I haven’t been to Fairlawn in years, maybe since high school and so was looking forward to seeing what the place looks like now.

Playing Fairlawn

Walking into the clubhouse to pay for the round, I was impressed.

The last time that I was there, the clubhouse was like a little coffee shop/ pro shop that you went in to pay and maybe grab a gatorade etc..

Now, it is a full bar area and restaurant with a tv and plenty of tables, including an outdoor patio which wasn’t opened for the season yet.

We did not stay there for lunch afterward, but it was impressive nonetheless.

These were my first swings of the season and so I struggled all day on the course, just was not confident with the distances and some of the shots the course requires.

The tee boxes on every hole were closed and so there were temporary tees place in front of them which made the tee shots a little trickier.

Tee boxes were closed on this day. They look good though.

The temporary tee boxes were on anything from grass to dirt.

I will say, the regular tee boxes looked nice, looked like there was some work put in during the offseason, and I look forward to them opening this season.

The greens were in good condition, but on the slow side – which is to be expected.

Obviously, the day was more about spending time on a golf course with my wife and her learning the game and how to play, then it was about me hacking it around.

The 5th hole at Fairlawn. Tricky little shot.

So that goal was accomplished.

It was a fun afternoon and a nice little walk around Fairlawn.
