Former Rhode Island Amateur champion Davis Chatfield battled to make the cut this week at the Korn Ferry Tour’s Club Car Championship.
After two rounds, Chatfield sits in a tie for 44th at four-under par overall following a second round 69.
The 69 moved Chatfield 27 spots up the leaderboard and inside the cut line.
The cut was three-under par.
Through two rounds, the tournament is being led by Russell Knox at 11-under.
Chatfield’s 2nd Round
Needing a good day to make the cut, Chatfield started his second round on the back side.
The day didn’t get off to a promising start as he opened with a bogey on the tenth hole to go to one-over for the day.
However, he bounced back with birdies on the 14th and 18th holes to turn at one-under par for the day.
Turning to the front side, Chatfield bogeyed the par-3 second hole after taking a penalty stroke.
After two straight pars, Chatfield drove the green on the par-4 fifth hole and knocked in the putt for an eagle to move to two-under for the day.
He would add a birdie on the sixth hole to get to three-under and inside the cut line.
