PGA Tour Meets with Trump on Saudi Deal

In an effort to get a deal done with the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan and Player Director Adam Scott went to the White House to meet with President Donald Trump.

The PIF is the group that financially backs the LIV Golf Tour.

The PGA Tour’s meeting with Trump took place on Tuesday, according to a statement.

“We know golf fans are early anticipating a resolution to negotiations with he Public Investment Fund and want to thank President Trump for his interest and long-time support of the game of golf,” a statement from the Tour read.

The statement continued, “We asked the President to get involved for the good of the game, the good of the country, and for all the countries involved. We are grateful that his leadership has brought us closer to a final deal, paving the way for reunification of men’s professional golf.”

The PGA Tour announced a framework agreement with the PIF about 20 months ago.

However, no definitive agreement was been reached.
