Quigley in 3rd After Round 1 of Trophy Hassan II on Champions Tour

Rhode Island’s Brett Quigley sits in a tie for third place after the first round of the Trophy Hassan II on the Champions Tour at the Royal Golf Dar Es Salam in Morocco.

Quigley carded a three-under 70 in the first round and is one shot back of leaders Simon Griffiths and Steven Alker, who sit at four-under.

“Overall, pretty good. Golf course is in great shape. I like coming to Morocco. I’ve got a good buddy, Rich McCarthy, caddying for me. We’ve had some good memories coming here. He makes the trip every year and it just keeps me a little looser and a little more fun out there. Played pretty well,” said Quigley after the round.

He is tied for third with a slew of players include Y.E. Yang, Tim O’Neal, and Miguel Angel Jimenez.

Quigley won this tournament back in 2020, though it was played at a different course.

“I just love the country. It’s a beautiful place both where we were in Marrakesh and here. And the golf course this week is completely different than what we played. It’s a challenge. It’s a really good tee to green and almost impossible once you get on the green. It keeps us all on our toes, for sure,” added Quigley.

Billy Andrade is even par for the tournament and sits in a tie for 24th overall.
