Chatfield Tied for Lead After Round 2 of KFT’s Great Abaco Classic

Former Rhode Island Amateur champion Davis Chatfield is tied for the lead through round two of the Korn Ferry Tour’s Great Abaco Classic.

Chatfield fired a bogey-free 63 on Monday to tie for the lead with Christo Lamprecht at 11-under par.

“I hit it close. I started on 10, hit it to three feet, so it was obviously a really nice start. And then yeah, from there I just kept hitting it close and made it really easy on myself. Hit a lot of fairways today and then just gave myself a lot of looks. I was happy with how I ended it,” Chatfield told the media after the round.

Davis Chatfield is in contention

Over his two year KFT career, Chatfield has had tournaments where he would be in contention on the weekend, or the final round, before fading.

He is hoping this weekend will be different.

“I think my first year I was just really happy when I would make the weekend and then you end up with a couple points. So yeah, you’ve got to look at it as every new day is a new day, you’ve got to take it one step at a time. I think as the time goes on, I get more experience, I get better at that, I’m not all the way there, but this weekend I’m just going to take it one shot at a time and whatever it ends up being at the end of the week is what it is,” Chatfield added.

Coverage of the third round starts at 2 p.m. on Tuesday on Golf Channel.

It is unclear what time Chatfield will tee off as some players still need to finish their second rounds.
