Chatfield, Jones Set for Final Stage of Q-School – What to Know
It is here, the Final Stage of PGA Tour Q-School.
Davis Chatfield and former URI star Dawson Jones are in the field at TPC Sawgrass looking to leave on Sunday evening with a PGA Tour card.
The tournament is being played at two different courses, Dye’s Valley and Sawgrass Country Club.
Jones gets his first round going at 10:10 a.m. at Sawgrass Country Club, while Chatfield starts at 10:30 at Dye’s Valley.
The third and fourth rounds will be shown on Golf Channel from 3-5 p.m. on Saturday and 2-4 p.m. on Sunday.
What’s at Stake
For Chatfield, he enters Final Stage with full status on the Korn Ferry Tour secured for next season – no matter what happens.
The former RI Amateur Champ is just playing for a top five finish and a PGA Tour Card.
For Jones, there is certainly a lot more at stake.

The good news is, just by advancing to Final Stage, he has earned conditional status on the Korn Ferry Tour and exempt status through the Latin America Swing on PGA Tour Americas
As noted, the top five finishers and ties earn a PGA Tour card.
The next 40 finishers and ties earn exempt status on the Korn Ferry Tour through multiple reshuffles.
To break it down further, within those 40, the top 25 finishers and ties get 12 guaranteed starts, and the remaining finishers earn eight guaranteed starts.
Essentially, a top 30 finish (or so) is the key.
There is no cut in this event, so everyone gets four rounds.
The Courses
The Final Stage will be held at two different courses at TPC Sawgrass – the Dye’s Valley Course and Sawgrass Country Club.
Dye’s Valley is a par-70 and will play at 6,850 yards for this tournament, with a slope of 134.
There are just two par-5s on the course and four par-3s.
Sawgrass Country Club will also play at a par-70, and stretch to 7,054 yards with a slope of 146.
Sawgrass CC consists of two par-5s and four par-3s.
The field will play two rounds at Dye’s Valley Course and two rounds at Sawgrass CC.
Players will compete in the same groups for the first two rounds before being re-paired for the third and again for the final round.
The top half of the field (through 36 holes) will play the third round at Sawgrass Country Club and the fourth at Dye’s Valley, while the bottom half will play the opposite.
Other Notables in Field
Of course, our focus will be on Chatfield and Jones, but there are certainly a slew of other players in the field that may interest you.
Former top amateur Sam Bennett, two-time Northeast Amateur champ Dylan Menante, and Massachusetts native Rich Werenski.
There are also a handful of former PGA Tour players trying to earn their status back, including Sangmoon Bae, Nick Watney, Sean O’Hair, and more.
