The 10 Toughest Golf Courses in RI by Slope Rating – 2024

What is the toughest golf course in Rhode Island in 2024?

GolfNewsRI looked at the slope ratings from the tips for each course.

“A simplistic explanation of how a Slope Rating is determined is to consider the method in which both the Course Rating and Bogey Rating are computed. When a Course Rating Committee visits a facility to conduct a rating, two distinct ratings are calculated. One rating is for scratch golfers; the second is computed for Bogey golfers. Within these two ratings, two main items determine the degree of difficulty of a course: yardage (length) and obstacles,” writes the USGA.

GolfNewsRI last did this in 2021, however, it we did it from the men’s tees and not from the “championship tees.”

  • Wannamoisett????

  • This list is a joke!!

  • Good list, not great but it was done by “slope rating”. I get it.
Wannamoisett should be on this list…who cares about the Slope-Great test from any tees. Newport CC from the tips on a windy day is brutal. Slope ratings don’t offer much.
Barrington on a non-Windy day is a long putt-putt. Triggs Memorial hosted many amateur tourneys in years past cuz it is a great test. RI is blessed to have many nice tracks, but also some just over the state lines are phenomenal.
    🙂
