Metacomet Development Proposal Recommended for Approval

The proposal to develop the Metacomet property is moving forward.

At a meeting last Thursday, the East Providence Design Review Committee voted unanimously to recommend approval of the project to the Waterfront commission.

“We are deeply grateful for the time and expertise provided by the Committee members throughout this process. Their valuable feedback has helped refine and improve the development, ultimately benefitting the residents of the community and all Rhode Islanders,” said Lianne Marshall, co-owner of Marshall Properties, Inc. in a press release issued on Monday.

The project will now move to the Waterfront Commission for final approval.

The Development

According to the press release, the proposed project includes 845 rental units, 22 duplexes and 24 townhouses, with 10% of the housing designated as affordable inclusionary units.

The development will also feature a town center with retail space, recreational amenities and pedestrian-friendly pathways that will provide a safe link between the site and the East Bay bike path across the parkway.

“We look forward to continuing to work with the Waterfront Commission as we move toward final approval and bring this transformative project to life,” Marshall said.

The nine-hole golf course, Met Links, opened this past summer.
