Ed Kirby Wins NEPGA Senior Championship
Rhode Island legend Ed Kirby won the Senior PGA Championship earlier this week at George Wright Golf Course in Massachusetts.
Kirby fired rounds of 68 and 67 to finish at five-under for the tournament to win by with relative ease.
Second place was three-over..
“It’s been 11 years since I won this event. I have got through a lot in that time. I’ve lost both my parents, I had major surgery on my neck, I couldn’t play for a few years. So the opportunity was hear today and I just wanted to play a solid round of golf,” Kirby told the NEPGA after the round.
The win sends Kirby to Oregon for the Senior Professional National Championship from September 24-29.
Shelter Harbor’s Dave Tiedemann and Wollaston’s Jeff Martin will also be heading to the Senior PNC after a T2 finish.
Earlier this summer, Kirby was the first ever guest on GolfNewsRI TV.
Best of luck to Ed Kirby and Jeff Martin in your future endeavors.
