I played Lincoln Country Club on Monday afternoon in a fundraiser to benefit the Lincoln High School Golf Team. 

I am a Lincoln alum so it was great to support the program and see my friend Nick Maresca, the head coach and head pro at Lincoln. 

The tournament was a scramble so I did not play every shot from every good/bad spot. 

It is always great to be back at Lincoln, they have put so much work into the course and club over the last few years, it is cool to see. 

Between the enclosed deck on the restaurant, the patio area in front of the pro shop, the fire pit, and the snack shack in the back of six – Lincoln is a great place to be. 

Overall, I found the course to be in great shop, fairways and tee boxes were flawless. 

Like I mentioned, it was a scramble so we didn’t play every shot from every spot, but the shots that we did play the lyes were good. 

Once we got on the greens – it was a real test. 

I found the greens to be really fast, I don’t know if they were Wannamoisett fast, but they were fast. 

We would hit putts and the ball would just keep rolling past the hole. 

I remember playing Lincoln last year and some of the greens were having issues along the edges, but that seemed to be corrected. 

A couple of hole notes: 

The first hole you would always play to the left side of the green and the ball would trickle down toward the hole. 

Well, it doesn’t roll down as much anymore.  

I still love the second tee shot, I’m a raised tee box guy so love that tee shot. 

The fourth hole from the fairway looks like there is a backstop there and you can play it off the backstop. 

However, when you get up there, you realize the backstop is not that close to the hole and balls aren’t going to roll back down. 

I still find the fourth hole to be tough, you have to hit a great tee shot into a fairway that slopes to the left and if you don’t, there is a good chance you are blocked out by trees. 

The fifth hole is a dog leg right and the green is drivable for some people – not me. 

This hole is all about the second shot and it’s a tough one because everything runs off the back of the green. 

This hole gave my group and I nightmares, we parred it the first time around and then made a mess the second time around. 

The sixth hole is the only par five on the course. I always thought you had to keep it left to have the best chance, but we actually had success from being down the hill. 

My group birdied the hole both times. 

I was nearly on in two the second time around. 

The eighth hole is the short par-3 which he struggled to hit the green on, thankfully at least one person (not me) from my group did. 

The first time I hit a PW over the green, the second time I hit an A wedge over the green. 

As a team we finished one-under for the tournament – not a winner – but it was a great day at Lincoln.
