SLIDES: GolfNewsRI at U.S. Senior Open Media Day
GolfNewsRI attended U.S. Senior Open Media Day on Tuesday.
The day starts with a press conference in the morning and then golf at the historic club in the afternoon.
The press conference consisted of of video messages from Billy Andrade and Brett Quigley, both of whom are in the field.
“Rhode Islanders love golf. It started back with Dana Quigley, then Brad Faxon, myself and Brett Quigley, and Pat Horgan. We have had a lot of players come out of Rhode Island and play on the PGA Tour and now on the Champions Tour. We have great fans in Rhode Island,” said Andrade on video.
Andrade also informed media that Newport will play as a par 70 for the tournament, as opposed to the par-72 that it plays for members.
Senior Open Honorary Chair Terry Francona, the former Red Sox manager was also in attendance and answered questions regarding the team, both past and present.
“I’m a big Alex Cora fan. I’m a huge Craig Breslow fan,” said Francona.
The U.S. Senior Open is set for June 27-30 at Newport CC.
