Chatfield Earns Top 15 Finish at KFT’s Club Car Championship

Together again.

Davis Chatfield and Patrick Welch were paired together for the final round of the Korn Ferry Tour’s Club Car Championship on Sunday, and it was Chatfield who got the best of his childhood friend.

Chatfield fired a four-under 68 in the final round to finish 14th overall in the tournament.

The 68 was his lowest score of the week.

Welch finished at four-under for the tournament and in a tie for 37th after a one-over 73 in the final round.

A positive for Welch is that his T37 finish moved him up 31 spots on the Korn Ferry Tour points list from 158 to 127.

Rob Oppenheim and Steve Fisk are currently in a playoff at 14-under.

Chatfield’s Final Round

Starting on the first hole, Chatfield opened with pars on one and two.

He bogeyed the par-5 third hole to move to one-over.

However, he quickly got it back with birdies on the fourth and fifth holes.

Then made another set of back-to-back birdies on the seventh and eighth holes to turn at three-under.

On the back side, Chatfield birdied the tenth hole to get to four-under and just a couple of shots off the lead.

Following a string of four pars in a row, Chatfield dropped another birdie on the 15th hole to get him to five-under on the round.

At this point, he was inside the top ten on the leaderboard.

Chatfield closed with a bogey on 17 and a par on 18 to shoot 68.

Welch’s Round

Starting the round tied with Chatfield, Welch stayed with him through the first few holes.

The former Classical star birdied the third hole and made another on the fifth hole to get to two-under on the day.

Patrick Welch

However, an eight on the par-4 ninth hole set him back.

Just going off the play-by-play, Welch put his tee shot into the rough, second shot into a “native area.”

From there, his third shot was back in the fairway and fourth shot on the green.

He then four-putted for an eight.

Making the turn, Welch saved par on the first four holes before making a birdie on the 14th.

However, back-to-back bogeys on 15 and 16 put him at three-over for the round with two holes left.

Welch would bounce back with birdies on 17 and 18 to finish one over for the day.
