Former University of Rhode Island star Chris Francoeur missed out on a playoff at the Valspar Championship Monday Qualifier by one shot at Southern Hills Plantation Golf Course in Florida.
Francoeur finished his round with a five-under par 67, while a six-under round 66 would have gotten him into playoff for the final spot.
The former Rhody Ram was five-under on the front side, but played the back side at even par, with a bogey on t1 and a birdie at 12.
Instead, that playoff will go on without him early on Tuesday morning as the qualifier started late due to a two-hour delay.
Next up, Francoeur will head to Mexico this week for the start of the PGA Tour Americas season.
Chatfield
Former Rhode Island Amateur champion Davis Chatfield was also in the field on Monday and finished with a four-under 68 for the round.
Chatfield played the front nine at one-under and then birdied three holes against no bogeys on the back side to give himself a shot.
