Met Links to Open “Later This Year”
Met Links will open “later this year” the Northeast Golf Company said in a social media post.
The course is a nine-hole track set on the front nine of the former Metacomet Golf Club property.
“Yes, it’s true! The old “abandoned” Metacomet Country Club has been reborn as Met Links! The course is a 9-hole, par 34 track with much of Ross’s old front nine restored! The course will open later this year and will be accessible to the public,” writes Northeast Golf Company.

GolfNewsRI reported exclusively about the plans for Met Links back in May of 2023 and was told then that it would open “sometime in 2024.”
Recently, there has been some push back on developing any part of the property, mostly from the group “Keep Metacomet Green.”
“Is anyone aware that in the making of this ‘golf course’ there was no approved permit from CRMC? Is anyone aware that the highlands of Metacomet Golf Course are considered a highly sensitive historical land area? Probable Indigenous shell heaps have been photographed adding to the evidence that an Indigenous village may be under the lands of the original Donald Ross golf course,” writes KMG’s Heather Andrade.
There is a public hearing of the East Providence design review committee and Waterfront Commission on Wednesday, March 20 and Thursday, March 28.
The hearing specifically relates to the Metacomet property.
It is at East Providence City Hall.
