New England CC Using GPS Technology to Improve Pace of Play
Planning to play a round at New England Country Club this season? Well there is a good chance that your round will finish on or ahead of pace.
Using GPS technology from Tagmarshal, 84% of rounds at New England CC between June and August of 2023 finished on or below the goal time.
“Every hole gets rated, and you get time between the front and back nine. It’s called pace of play par. The goal is to get everyone around in 4 hours and 20 minutes,” Michael Daron, PGA, the Director of Golf Operations at New England CC told GolfNewsRI.

The average round time decreased by five minutes in that span to 4 hours and 22 minutes.
Daron notes that the club is so confident in the pace of play that tee time intervals were cut from 10 to nine minutes, allowing more players to get on the course.

The Technology
Tagmarshal provides courses with full, real-time operational oversight and reporting, helping golf course operators manage pace of play.
“I can see where every golf cart is from my desktop or from the pro shop. Are they on the path, are they too close to the greens. There is even modules on there to order food,” said Daron.
According to Tagmarshal, their technology has collected more than 1 billion data points from over 30 million rounds of golf.
The company notes that it has relationships with in excess of 500 partners, including Hazeltine, Whistling Straits, Baltusrol, Fieldstone, Bandon Dunes, Serenoa and Erin Hills.
