Chatfield Fires Opening Round 68 at Astara Golf Championship
Former Rhode Island Amateur champion Davis Chatfield fired a first round 68 (3-under) at the Astara Golf Championship on Thursday in Colombia.
The three-under puts Chatfield in a tie for 55th heading into the second round.
Cristobal Del Solar leads the tournament after carding a ridiculous 57 (13-under) in the first round.
Patrick Welch is not playing in the tournament.
Chatfield’s First Round
Starting on the tenth hole, Chatfield birdied the 11th hole to get to one under par.
Following a string of four pars, the former Notre Dame star closed the first nine with a bogey on 16 and a birdie on 17 to turn at one-under.
On the front side, Chatfield opened with four straight pars, before dropping a birdie on the par-3 fifth hole to move to two-under par.
He added a birdie on the ninth hole to shoot a 68.
