Welch, Chatfield Over Par After 1st Round of Panama Championship
Patrick Welch and Davis Chatfield are both over par after the opening round of the Korn Ferry Tour’s Panama Championship.
Welch fired a one-over par 71 in the first round and is in a tie for 39th.
Chatfield, coming off a T11 finish, carded a five-over 75 in round one and sits in a tie for 111th.
The lead is five-under, which is held by two players in Trey Winstead and Augusto Nunez.
As of Thursday night, the cut would be two-over par.
Obviously, lots of golf to go.
Welch’s Round
Starting on one, the Classical grad opened with a birdie, but then doubled back-to-back holes to go to three-over on the round.
He would remain there at the turn.
On the back side, Welch saved par on the first four holes before making birdie on the 14th and 15th holes to get it back to one-over.
He would par out to shoot 71.
Chatfield’s Round
Chatfield opened the tournament on the back side and made bogey on the 11th ole.
He then followed up with a birdie on the 12th, but gave it back with a bogey on 15.
He made the turn at one-over.
Coming to the front side, Chatfield bogeyed the first hole to move to two-over and then closed the round with three-straight bogeys on seven, eight and nine to finish at five-over.
