Northeast Amateur Champ Nick Dunlap Turns Pro
Reigning Northeast Amateur Champion Nick Dunlap announced that he is turning pro on Thursday in a press conference at the University of Alabama.
The decision comes a few days after Dunlap won the PGA Tour’s American Express Championship, the first Amateur to win on Tour since 1991.

“It was the easiest-hardest decision I’ve ever had to make,” Dunlap said in the press conference.
On the PGA Tour, Dunlap is exempt in 2024 for all full-field events, the seven remaining Signature Events, The Players Championship and three of the four major championships, including The Masters, U.S. Open and PGA Championship.
The R&A has not yet announced its exemptions for The Open Championship.
Dunlap will begin his pro career next week at Pebble Beach.
