Leopold, Cooke Capture 4th RI Four-Ball Championship
Bobby Leopold and his brother-in-law Tyler Cooke captured their second straight RI Four-Ball Championship on Wednesday afternoon at Quidnessett Country Club.
This is their fourth RI Four-Ball title overall.
The duo finished the tournament at nine-under to edge the teams of Mike Caparco/Jamie Lukowicz and Jantzen Vargas/Kevin Silva by one shot.
The RI Four-Ball was originally supposed to be held back in May but was moved due to weather.
Starting the round with a one shot lead, Leopold made a birdie on the third hole against Cooke’s bogey to get to one-under on the day.
After five straight pars, both Cooke and Leopold mad birdie on the ninth hole to turn at two-under 34.
On the back side, the duo both birdied the 11th to get to three-under for the day.
Things got interesting on the 13th hole when both players made double-bogey to drop back and bring the rest of the leaderboard into play.
However, ti didn’t last long as Leopold birdied the next two holes and Cooke poured in a birdie on the 16th hole.
Both players parred 17 and Leopold made a tap-in par on 18 to seal the victory.
