Back 9 Bogeys Cost Dickson in First Round of PGA Tour Q-School
Rhode Island’s Will Dickson was four-under through the first ten holes in the first round of PGA Tour Q-School Stage 1 on Tuesday in Alabama.
However, three back nine bogeys and a double sent him to an even par finish and currently sitting in a tie for 52nd with three rounds to go.
The top 19 players and ties will advance to Stage 2 after Friday’s round.
As of Tuesday evening, the cut is three-under par.
Peru’s Julian Perico leads the tournament at seven-under.
Dickson’s Round
Starting on the front side, Dickson saved par on the first two holes before making his first birdie of the day on the third hole to get under par.
After two more pars, Dickson birdied the sixth hole and dropped another birdie on the ninth hole to turn at three-under 33.
Turning to the back side, Dickson birdied the tenth and was four-under par for the round, well inside the cut line at this point.
However, the rest of the side was a grind.
Dickson bogeyed the 12th hole and then doubled the 15th hole to fall back to one-under par.
Another bogey on the 16th hole dropped him back to even par for the round.
Dickson birdied the 17th, but gave it right back with another bogey on the 18th hole.
