Larry Lafauci Leads RI Mid-Am After Opening Round
Defending champion Larry Lafauci leads the Rhode Island Mid-Amateur after Tuesday’s opening round at Quinnatisset in Connecticut.
Lafauci fired a two-under 70 to lead Meadow Brook’s Steve Chevalier by one shot heading into Wednesday’s final round.
Rob Hirt is at at even par, while notables such as John Drone and Mike Hamilton both sit at one and two-over respectively, along with Tom McCormick.
The cut was 12-over par.
Lafauci’s Round
Lafauci made nine pars on the front side to turn at even par 36.
On the back, he dropped birdies on the 11th and 14th holes, before parring out to card a two-under 70.
Senior Division
In the senior division, Kirkbrae legend John Auclair is two under for the tournament and will take a two-shot lead over Brian O’Leary into Wednesday’s final round.
Auclair made a bogey on the fifth hole, but got it right back with birdies on the sixth and eighth holes to turn at one-under.
On the back side, he made all pars against one birdie on the 14th hole.
