Closing Eagle Helps Francoeur to Even Par 1st Round at CRMC Championship

Former University of Rhode Island star Chris Francoeur eagled the 18th hole to finish the opening round of the CRMC Championship at even par.

The first round 70 has him in a tie for 38th overall after being three-over through the 15th hole.

Francoeur missed the cut by one shot last week and needs to play well on Friday to make the cut this week.

Francoeur’s Round

Starting on the front side, Francoeur made bogey on the first hole, before a string of five straight pars.

The former Rhody Ram made back-to-back birdies on the seventh and eighth to get under par, but gave it back on the ninth to turn at even par.

Turning to the back side, Francoeur then saved par on the first five holes on the back side, however, then ran into trouble.

On the par-3 15th hole, Francoeur made a triple bogey six to go to three-over par.

For what it’s worth, the 15th hole is ranked as the fifth hardest hole on the course.

He bounced back with a birdie on the 16th hole and then a closing eagle on the par-5 18th hole to finish at even par.
