Francoeur in 41st After Round 1 of Manitoba Open

Former University of Rhode Island star Chris Francoeur fired a three-under 69 in the first round of the Manitoba Open on PGA Tour Canada. 

Francoeur currently sits in a tie for 41st overall with his second round about to get underway. 

In his opening round, Francoeur bogeyed the first hole, but bounced back with birdies the rest of the way win, including on nine, 13, 15 and 16. 

As GolfNewsRI reported on Thursday, the Manitoba Open is the first leg of the Fortinet Cup. 

The top five finishers in the Fortinet Cup over a three tournament span will earn Korn Ferry Tour status. 

Francoeur is 38th on the points list.
