Chatfield Opens with First Round 67, Welch 70 at Boise Open

After a missed cut last week, Davis Chatfield came out firing in the first round of the Boise Open on the Korn Ferry Tour.

The former RI Amateur champ made four birdies against no bogeys to card a first round 67 and sit in a tie for 38th.

He is five shots back of leader Chris Gotterup.

Meanwhile, Patrick Welch carded a one-under 70 in the first round.

Welch opened with bogeys on two of the first four holes, but fought back to get it under par.

He is currently tied for 114th and will need to do some work to make the cut on Friday.

Welch is coming off the best finish of his pro career, a tie for third last week.

The Classical grad tees off at 4:05 p.m. for round two.
