Welch Tied 3rd After Rd 1 of KFT’s Magnit Championship

Patrick Welch sits in a tie for third place through the first round of the Korn Ferry Tour’s Magnit Championship in New Jersey.
Welch cared a five-under 67 in the first round and is tied with a slew of other players.

Davis Chatfield is even par through 15 holes as play was suspended.
The former RI Amateur champ is in a tie for 91st at the moment.
Jeff Overton leads the tournament at seven-under.
Welch’s Round
Starting on the back side, Welch opened with three pars before a bogey on the 13th hole to go to one over.
He got it right back, and more, by making birdies on three of the next four holes to turn at two-under 34.
Switching to the front side, Welch birdied the first hole and then made three straight pars.
The former Classical star dropped birdies on the fifth and sixth holes to get to five-under for the day before parring out.
