VIDEO: URI’s O’Donovan Leads Locals, Dickson Cards 1-Under in RI Return

University of Rhode Island rising sophomore Aidan O’Donovan carded a three-under 69 and sits in a tie for fifth after the opening round of the Providence Open. 

O’Donovan made three birdies and two bogeys on the front nine, and three more birdies against one bogey on the front side.

Rhode Island’s Will Dickson leads the local pro contingent with a first round score of one-under 71.

This was Dickson’s first competitive round in Rhode Island since 2017. 

Dickson got off to a slow start with two bogeys on the first three holes, but bounced back to finish under par for the day.

Staying on the pro scene, Bryant head coach Charlie Blanchard finished at even par, while newly minted pro Andrew O’Leary finished at one-over. 

Brad Adamonis, fresh off the U.S. Senior Open, carded a two-over 74. 

The final round of the tournament is Friday.
