URI’s Bryson Richards Wins Vermont Amateur

University of Rhode Island star Bryson Richards won the Vermont Amateur by five shots on Thursday afternoon at the Country Club of Barre.
This is his second Vermont Amateur title in the last three years as he won in 2021.
“Obviously, the one at Wilson was special because that is the first one. That’s obviously the one I wanted to win for a long time, so to win at Wilson was awesome. But to get it here on your home course, it’s been my home for the last ten years, so to get it done here is extra special,” Richards told the Vermont Golf Association after the round.

Richards was nine-under par for the tournament with rounds of 71, 69, 67 and a final round 68.
The next closes competitor was Michael Walsh at four-under.
Richards was a senior at Rhode Island this past season, but will use his extra year of eligibly to return to the Rams this upcoming school year.
