Grossguth, Rambone Share Medalist Honors at 1st RI Amateur Qualifier

What a two day stretch for Rob Grossguth.
One day after winning the Rhode Island Senior Four-Ball at Crystal Lake, Grossguth took medalist honors along with Robert Rambone at the first Rhode Island Amateur Qualifier on Wednesday at Cranston Country Club.

Grossguth and Rambone both carded even par 71s to win medalist honors by two shots over Chad Bearce, Joe Earley and Will Owens.
Overall, 27 golfers qualified for the Amateur that is set to be held in early July at Montaup.
The cut was six-over par.
Making the Cut
Among the players to make the cut, there are a few notables.
Ben Sapovits is a Wheeler School Alum who currently plays college golf at Williams College.
He along with a slew of others, including Kirkbrae’s Nick Salvatore, made the cut right on the number at six-over.
Will Owens is a star player at North Kingstown High School and Joe Earley recently graduated from La Salle and is off to college next fall.
He, along with Max Jackson and Olivia Williams have led the Rams to back-to-back state titles.
Former Bishop Hendricken star Ricky Angeli finished in a tie for sixth to make the cut, along with youngster Joey Iaciofano.
Last year, Iaciofano was one of the youngest players to ever qualify for the RI Amateur, as GolfNewsRI reported.
East Greenwich senior Ryan Marcantonio and former RIC standout Jon Cooper also made the cut.
