High School Golf State Championship Round 1 Recap

The first round of the High School Golf State Championship at Cranston Country Club is in the books, and it sets up for an awfully exciting round two on Wednesday.
Round two tee times begin at 7 a.m. on Wednesday morning with the final group going off just before 10 a.m.
Boys Individual
On the boys individual side, Coventry’s Sam Fuentes and Narragansett’s Sebastian Carlsson are tied for the lead at one-under par (70).

Carlsson had the lead by himself with two holes to play, but back-to-back bogeys saw him slide back into a tie.
Prout’s Mark Roberts is one shot back, while Barrington’s AJ Colonna and North Kingstown’s Connor Paradise are two back.
Two-time defending State Champion Max Jackson opened with a 75 and sits in a tie for 10th overall.
Jackson made just one birdie on the day against three bogeys and a double.
Girls Individual
On the girls individual side, Moses Brown freshman Adriana Eaton fired a two-over 73 to lead the tournament by five shots over Barrington’s Lily Dessel and six shots over her sister Kylie.
Adriana made seven birdies in the round, but also had an eight and a seven on the card, or else she really would have been running away with it.
Defending champion Olivia Williams carded an opening round 8 and sits in solo fourth place heading into the final round.
Team Championship
In the team championship, six squads made the cut into round two and pretty much all of them have a real chance to make a run.
The team cut is the top three teams and then any/all teams within 20 shots of the lead.
The teams that made the cut include Barrington, La Salle, East Greenwich, Moses Brown, North Kingstown and Prout.
Barrington fired a team score of 302 for 18 holes to lead La Salle (303) by one shot and East Greenwich by and Moses Brown by seven shots heading into Wednesday.
