Patrick Welch Inside Top 15 After Round 1 of NCAA Norman Regional
Patrick Welch fired a one-under 71 in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament Norman Regional on Monday afternoon at Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club in Oklahoma.
Welch currently sits in a tie for 14th place overall in the tournament.
Welch’s Oklahoma Sooners carded a team score of nine-under par and currently sit in second place, one shot back of Texas Tech.
The top five teams in the region advance to the National Championship.
Welch’s Round
Playing on Oklahoma’s home course, Welch opened with birdies on two of the first three holes to get to two-under par.
He took a step backwards on the sixth hole with a bogey, but got it back with a birdie on the ninth hole to turn at two-under.
On the back side, Welch bogeyed the 15th hole to drop back to one-under for the tournament.
He currently sits in a tie for 14th.
