Welch Finishes 4th, Oklahoma Wins Big 12 Championship

Patrick Welch and the Oklahoma Sooners won the Big 12 Championship for the second straight year on Wednesday afternoon at Prairie Dunes in Kansas.

Individually, Welch finished in solo fourth with a tournament score of two-under par, edging out teammate Drew Goodman by two shots.

The Sooners ran away with the team title, beating TCU by 18 shots in the tournament. 

Oklahoma posted a team score of one-under, while TCU was 17-over. 

Welch and Oklahoma will now get set for the NCAA Tournament.

Through the first three rounds, Welch carded a 70, 68 and 70 to put himself in contention heading into the final round. 

Welch opened up with four straight pars, before making a bogey on the fifth hole, and another on the ninth hole to turn at 37. 

On the back side, Welch birdied the 12th after knocking it close. 

He bogeyed 16, but then eagled the 17th to pull himself into solo fourth and break a tie with Goodman. 

Welch saved par on 18 to seal the Oklahoma victory.
