La Salle Sits 17th After Round 1 of Palmetto High School Championship

The La Salle Rams sit in a tie for 17th after the first round of the Palmetto High School Golf Championship down at Myrtle Beach. 

The Rams finished the day with a team score of 24-over par (304) and are tied with Boiling Spring High School.

Reaction to the course and the tournament from Rams includes that the greens are consistent, the par-5s are reachable and there are a ton of waste bunkers.

The O’Neal School leads the way at two-over par.

The Rams were led in round one by Max Jackson, who carded a 70. 

Jackson dropped four birdies on the first nine holes against one bogey, before making a double and two bogeys on the back side, mixed in with three more birdies. 

The two-time defending State Champ is tied for 16th in the individual portion of the tournament. 

Charles Melvin followed up Jackson with a first round 76, while defending Girls State Champ Olivia Williams and Joe Earley carded a pair of 79s.
