Welch Finishes 5th, Oklahoma Wins The Goodwin

Patrick Welch went nine-under over the final two rounds to finish in a tie for fifth at The Goodwin this weekend at TPC Harding Park in California.
Welch finished four-under for the tournament, five shots behind his teammate, and individual winner Ben Lorenz.
“Patrick Welch was unbelievable, going 9-under over the last two days is something special,” said Oklahoma head coach Ryan Hybl.

The Oklahoma Sooners won the tournament with a team score of 18-under par.
“It was a great win for us after a bumpy last month of golf. It’s always fun to win, but to do it on a championship golf course like Harding Park makes it even more special,” said Hybl.
Oklahoma returns to action on April 15 for The Boilermaker.
It is their last tournament of the regular season.
Welch’s Final Round
After firing a second round 66, Welch returned for the final round looking to put on a show in his home state of California.
He opened with three straight pars, and then birdied the forth hole to get to one-under.
However, he gave it right back with a bogey on the fifth hole.
From there, the show began.
Welch birdied the seventh hole, parred eight and dropped another birdie putt on nine to turn at two-under.
The birdie on nine was the first of four straight for the former Classical star as he would add birds at 10, 11 and 12 to get to five-under for the day.
He bogeyed the 14th hole, but got it back with a birdie on the 16th hole to card a 65.
