Rose Zhang Wins Augusta National Women’s Amateur in Playoff

The number one ranked women’s amateur in the world, Rose Zhang, beat Georgia’s Jenny Bae in a playoff to win the Augusta National Women’s Amateur on Saturday afternoon at Augusta National.

Zhang entered the final round with a five shot lead, but a 76 saw her give up the lead and have to go to a playoff.

Zhang and Bae entered the playoff both at nine-under par for the tournament.

The three-hole sudden death playoff started on 18 and then would go to 10, if needed.

Bae had an opportunity to win the match on the first playoff hole, but left her putt short.

Zhang made a knee knocker to halve the hole and send the playoff to ten.

Both players put their tee shots in the fairway and Zhang put her second shot on the green, but above the hole.

Bae put her second shot in the trees on the left, leaving herself nearly an impossible shot.

She would end up punching her ball out of the trees, across the green and into the bunker.

Bae chipped out to a couple of feet, but Zhang won the match with a two-putt.
