RI’s Hegstrom Competing in Drive, Chip & Putt Finals at Augusta National
Providence’s Hazel Hegstrom will be competing in the Drive, Chip & Putt finals on Sunday morning at Augusta National.
Hegstrom will be competing in the girls 7-9 year-old-division.
She is in fourth grade at the Wheeler School and calls Wannamoisett Country Club her home course.
The national finals will be held on Sunday morning and broadcast on Golf Channel.
Hegstrom got to Augusta National by completing the local qualifier at Button Hole last June, getting through the sub-regional qualifier at Lebaron Hills in Massachusetts and then knocking out the regional qualifier at TPC Boston.
Hegstrom is next up in what is becoming a lengthy list of Rhode Islanders that have made it to Augusta.
The list includes AJ Colonna, Patrick Welch, and Gianna Papa.
