O’Leary Takes 16th, Notre Dame 9th at Schenkel Invitational

Former Rhode Island Amateur champion Andrew O’Leary led the Notre Dame Fighting Irish with a tie for 16th finish at the Schenkel Invitational on Sunday afternoon at Forest Lights Country Club in Georgia.
O’Leary carded a three round score of 216 (even par) to tie with several other players.

Meanwhile, Notre Dame finished in a tie for ninth with a team score of 14-over par.
Georgia Southern won the tournament at 26-under.
O’Leary Closes Strong
After rounds of 73 and 71, O’Leary opened the final round looking to move up the leaderboard.
Starting on ten, he bogeyed the 12th hole, then birdied the 14th hole.
He closed the back side with a double on the 17th to turn at 38.
Making the turn, O’Leary bogeyed the first hole, but then went on a run.
The 2019 RI Amateur Champ birdied the second hole, then birdied the seventh and ninth holes to finish at even for the day, and the tournament.
