Francoeur Misses Valspar Monday Q Cut in Heartbreaking Fashion

When former University of Rhode Island star Chris Francoeur woke up on Tuesday morning, he had a 12-foot birdie putt on his 16th hole to get inside the cut line at the Valspar Championship Monday Qualifier.
The tournament was finishing on Tuesday due to weather.
Two birdies in the last three holes would have gotten him into a 5-for-4 playoff, and three birdies would have seen him qualify outright.

“I started on 10, needed two birdies on 7,8 and 9,” said Francoeur in a social media post.
Francoeur would miss the birdie putt on his 16th hole (7th), bogey the eighth hole and save par on nine to finish the last three holes at one-over.
“No dice at Valspar. Way she goes sometimes,” he added.
Next up, Francoeur will head to Georgia for the Korn Ferry Tour Monday Qualifier, which will also include RI’s Will Dickson.
Former Rhode Island Amateur champ Davis Chatfield will also in the Valspar Monday Q field and he finished tied for 28th at two-under par.
He returns to action on the Korn Ferry Tour next week.
