O’Leary in 32nd After Round 1 of PGA Tour Canada Q-School
Former Rhode Island Amateur champion Andrew O’Leary is in a tie for 32 following round one of PGA Tour Canada Q-School in Alabama.
O’Leary is playing the even as an amateur, so this is just a test run.
As he told GolfNewsRI a few months ago, he does plan to turn pro following school.
O’Leary is one-under par for the tournament, which is led by amateur Riley Bell, pros Roy Cootes, Patrick Moriarty and Stephen Franken at six-under.
Starting on the back side, O’Leary made all pars until the 17th hole when he birdied the par 3.
He turned at one-under 35.
On the back side, O’Leary bogeyed the second hole, birdied the third, and bogeyed the fourth hole.
After a couple of pars, O’Leary birdied the seventh hole to shoot 71.
