Course Review: Kings Crossing – February 16, 2023

What a gift we got this February with a near 70 degree day on Thursday the 16th.

It was so nice out, that I decided to join Rich and go play golf at Kings Crossing in North Kingstown in the morning.

I believe this is the earliest that I have ever played golf in the year, usually I get a few March rounds in, but never in February – at least that I can remember.

Anyway, upon arrival a little after 9 a.m., the place was packed. You might have thought it was the middle of the summer.

And afterward, the bar was packed as well.

It was a great day, I mean we were playing golf in February, how could it be bad.

At the King, carts were out and the greens are not covered, so you can really play and putt.

Given what month it was, the tee boxes were in decent shape. Most of them were way up front.

Rich nearly drove the green on the sixth hole – twice.

As GolfNewsRI reported, Kings Crossing is doing a lot of work on their bunkering, both in the fairways and on the greens.

So we got to take a handful of free drops.

The King is also putting in some work on the cart paths and have already redone the path that runs alongside the fourth hole that goes back to the clubhouse.

The greens were, obviously, slower then they will be in the summer, but they rolled nicely given it was February.

I was fortunate to make a birdie, so that was cool.

In the fairways, we obviously moved our ball to a preferred lie, but for the most part it was fine.

Hey, we played golf on a 70 degree day in February so it was all good.
