Rahm Edges Homa at Riviera for 3rd Victory of Season
Jon Rahm outdueled Max Homa to win the Genesis Invitational on Sunday afternoon at Riviera Country Club.
Rahm finished at 17-under for the week, beating Homa by two shots.
The victory is Rahm’s third win of the season and his fifth victory in nine worldwide starts.
He also becomes the first player from Spain to win the tournament, and takes over as World #1.
Rahm started the day with a three shot lead over Homa, but after a couple of bogeys, that lead went away.
Early in the back nine, Homa took a one shot lead over Rahm with a few holes to play.
However, a Homa bogey and a Rahm birdie on the 13th hole turned the tables for the day.
Rahm made another birdie on the par-3 16th hole after an amazing tee shot that nearly went in to take a two shot lead and go on to win.
