RI Contingent Competing in PGA National Club Championship
A small contingent of Rhode Islanders are headed south to Sea island, Georgia and Kiawah Island, South Carolina in the coming days and weeks to compete in the PGA National Club Championship.
The tournament shows off club champions with a PGA Professional.
The Rhode Islanders that are headed south are as follows:
Laura Nesteriak – Crestwood CC – Senior Women’s
Lisa Ferrara – Alpine – Champion Women’s
Michael Harrington – Warwick – Champion Men’s
Nancy Diemoz – Montaup – Champion Women’s
The women’s divisions will compete from February 4 to 6 at Sea Island Golf Club ’s Seaside Retreat and Plantation Course.
The men’s divisions will compete from February 15-17 on the Ocean Course, Cougar Point and Turtle Point at Kiawah.
PGA National Club Championship
According to the PGA of America, this year’s National Club Championship will be contested by 520 club champions ranging from ages 12 to 81.
The Championship will feature six divisions, with each division competing over 54 holes. The divisions for women and men include: Open (any age), Senior (50+ years old) and Champion (60+ years old).
This is the third straight year this championship has been conducted.
