Chris Francoeur Finishes 2nd at Tampa Open

Heartbreaker. 

Former University of Rhode Island star Chris Francoeur finished second at the Tampa Open on the West Florida Golf Tour on Thursday afternoon. 

Francoeur needed a birdie on the par-5 18th hole to tie the lead, but ended up making a bogey.

He finishes at nine-under overall and takes home $3,500 for his efforts. 

Brian Richey won the tournament and took home $7,000.

Francoeur’s Final Round

Starting the final round two shots back and in the final group, Francoeur opened with a bogey on the first hole, but bounced back with a birdie on the second. 

Another bogey on the fourth hole, was followed by a bounce-back birdie on the sixth hole. 

Francoeur closed the front nine with a birdie on the ninth to turn at 35. 

On the back side, Francoeur birdied the 11th hole, made another one on 13 and another on 15. 

A Richey bogey on 16 sent the pair to the final two holes with just one shot between them. 

Francoeur and Richey both saved par on 17, and Richey managed par on 18, while Francoeur made bogey.
