Long Time New England CC Superintendent Barker Retires, Jeff James Takes Over

Long time New England Country Club Superintendent Greg Barker has retired after 22 years.

Barker left his post at the end of 2022.

“As our Golf Course Superintendent, he put his heart and soul (and half a finger) into this property over that time and will be greatly missed.  Despite being one of the hardest working people you will ever meet.  Greg always makes time to greet members and guests with a smile,” writes Mike Daron, Director of Golf Operations at New England CC in a press release sent to GolfNewsRI.

Daron adds, “We have huge shoes to fill and we hope that Greg will make time to come and visit often.”

With Barker’s retirement, New England CC has named Jeff James as superintendent.

“We are excited to officially announce today that Jeff James has agreed to take over for Greg Barker starting in 2023.  Greg’s “retirement” left us with some big shoes to fill,” writes Daron.
