Narragansett HS Star Sebastian Carlsson Commits to URI

Narragansett High School golf star Sebastian Carlsson has committed to play college golf at the University of Rhode Island starting in the fall of 2023.

Carlsson will finish off his high school career this spring.

“Seb is new to competitive golf but has made tremendous progress. He is another player who has enjoyed the benefits of the Challenge Cup.   It is a unique situation as his mom is a professor and administrator here so he was likely to come to URI even without golf. Now he has a chance to prove himself and, with continued hard work, he could turn himself into an important part of the team,” head coach Gregg Burke told GolfNewsRI.

Carlsson’s High School Career

With one season left, Carlsson is already a two-time All-State selection and will captain the Mariners squad this spring.

In 2022, he finished second at the High School Golf State Championship.

Carlsson won the individual title at the McCampbell Cup, a tie for second at the Ocean State Junior Classic and a semi-final run at the RI Junior Amateur.

Most recently, Carlsson finished second in the Challenge Cup Tournament of Champions and played for team Rhode Island in the New England Junior Championship.
