Team Thomas Leads PNC Championship by 2 After Round 1
Justin Thomas and his dad Mike lead the PNC Championship by two shots after the opening round at the Ritz Carlton – Grande Lakes down in Florida.
Team Thomas posted a two-man scramble score 15-under to lead Vijay Singh and his son and Tiger Woods and his son by two shots heading into the final round.
The Thomas’ won this tournament two years ago, while Tiger and Charlie finished second last year.
The Singh’s are a team to watch as they have multiple runner ups in this tournament and continue to play well.
Golf Channel picks up coverage at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday.
RI Connection
It is a bit of a stretch, but there are a few Rhode Island connections in the tournament.
Annika Sorenstam is playing and she won the 2006 U.S. Women’s Open at Newport back in 2006, she also played in the CVS Health Charity Classic years later.
Jordan Spieth’s caddie this week is his brother Steven.
Steven Spieth played college basketball at Brown University for four years and now plays overseas.
Jordan came to several Brown basketball games to watch him play.
