Max Jackson Takes Co-Medalist Honors at Challenge Cup Tour Championship
La Salle phenom Max Jackson took co-medalist honors at the Challenge Cup Tour Championship on Friday at Shelter Harbor Golf Club.
Jackson finished two-over for the tournament to tie with Connecticut’s Andrew Beauton.
It got too dark for any playoff to happen so co-medalist honors it is.
This was Jackson’s first round in about three months as he has been committed to the La Salle soccer team.
Narragansett’s Sebastian Carlsson finished in a tie for third at four-over.
Ryan Marcantonio and Joseph Earley finished in a tie for 20th.
Jackson’s Round
Jackson’s round did not get off to an ideal start.
The La Salle star opened with a double-bogey seven on the first hole, and then bogeyed the third hole to go to three-over.
A birdie on the fourth hole, was followed by another bogey on the fifth hole and another bogey on the eighth hole to go to four-over.
Jackson birdied the ninth hole to turn at 39.
On the back side, Jackson bogeyed ten, but followed up with birdies on the 11th and 14th holes to shoot 73.
Boys 14 + Under
In the boys 14 and under division, Drew MacLeod finished in second place with a score of two-over par.
Westerly’s Rocco Capalbo took fifth at five-over.
New York’s Zachary Berger won the division at one-over par.
Girls Division
Vinny Papa beat Julia Imai to win the girls division.
There were only two players in the girls division.
Papa fired a five-over 76, while Imai shot an 84.
