Papa Sits in 11th After First Round of Notah Begay III National Championship
Rhode Island’s Vinny Papa sits in a tie for 11th after an even par 72 in round one of the Notah Begay III National Championship at Kaasati Pines in Louisiana.
Papa is tied with several other girls in the 12-13 age division, all of whom sit nine shots behind Ziyi Zhao.
She has the lead at nine-under par.
Papa’s Round
Papa got off to a good start, birding the par-5 first hole to get to one-under par.
After a string of seven straight pars, Papa made another birdie on the par-5 ninth hole to turn at two-under.
On the back side, Papa saved par on the 10th, 11th and 12th holes, but then made back-to-back bogeys on 13 and 14 to drop back to even par.
She would par out the rest of the way to shoot 72.
